Firstly, it's free to surf, but not to upload data. If your happy getting a free cloud through Google or whoever, then by all means...otherwise, solutions that solve these problems with decentralization have to find a way to monetize something other than the data, i.e. bandwidth, memory, or computing power.
Look at the tech. Don't be an idiot. And then, if you still don't think it's a huge deal but just a scam because it has cousins in the blockchain world, the by all means, we're waiting for your grand solution to the surveillance capitalism problem.
I, for one, am all ears for an idea about how to keep internet surfing free...but without all the fucked up incentives that currently exist that make the tech world suck.
