The Soviet was humiliated by their invasion of Prague.
If it was all so awesome in the old Soviet, why did they need to invade their own place? And go somewhere that everyone was all about getting along, even with the boys in the tanks.
The young men couldn't understand what the people in Prague had done wrong to deserve to be invaded. They were baffled by the non-violent opposition basically treating them with respect but telling them why they were wrong for being there.
