Alleged leader of Victory Inn sex trafficking, drug ring arrested
After a nearly three-year manhunt, government agencies have arrested the accused leader of a human trafficking and drug ring that once ran out of Detroit's now-demolished Victory Inn.
Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Marshals Service apprehended Darrick Bell, 50, at a motel in Monroe, Michigan Wednesday, according to a local U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman.
Authorities found Bell, allegedly the leader of Victory Inn's former sex trafficking and narcotics ring, with $12,000 and suspected cocaine at a Monroe Econo Lodge.
Bell also goes by the names "Tone" and "Ghost," and was on Homeland Security Investigations' "Most Wanted" list before his arrest.
Authorities also arrested a woman who was with Bell and now faces drug charges. They are still investigating those who may have helped Bell avoid capture for more than 2½ years.

The plane crashed in the area of Rainbow Canyon, which is also called Star Wars Canyon and where people gather to watch low-flying flights.
Rangers on Wednesday found seven injured visitors at the overlook, Taylor said. It was unclear how they were hurt. The area is within Death Valley National Park but also within a military training zone.
The circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
A man who heard jets roaring through the area and then a cloud of smoke told the Associated Press that “it looked like a bomb."

US Sanctions Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, Blocks All US Assets
The Trump administration took the bizarre step of imposing financial sanctions on Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif despite indications the man has no wealth or properties to speak of parked in the United States.
The sanctions revealed Wednesday will freeze any assets Zarif has in the United States, or which are controlled by U.S. entities, said the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The Treasury Department said "all property and interests in property of this individual (Zarif) that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons must be blocked and reported" to the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin alleged Zarif "implements the reckless agenda of Iran's Supreme Leader, and is the regime's primary spokesperson around the world."
"The United States is sending a clear message to the Iranian regime that its recent behavior is completely unacceptable," he added.
Zarif expressed bewilderment at the sanctions, saying he has "no property or interests outside of Iran.”
