On Costliest U.S. Warship Ever, Navy Can’t Get Munitions on Deck

This story triggered me to write something here. I’ve long suspected a mole works in some US Navy new technology development office (not sure exactly what dept) and this confirms to me that someone is introducing expensive impractical technologies Into new ship construction and that person is either extremely incompetent or is knowingly turning a blind eye to proper oversight of new technology development for replacements to key Naval equipments.

I first saw this with IFTP and electric steering (sgas) on DDG1000 being extremely problematic and will be for the life of the ship.

This story here is going on way more than one would expect across industry with developmental technologies.

And the spending continues in a scripted playbook style rather than just putting in a cable elevator so the carrier can quickly be put in service. This development effort will never end and will need special people programs in place to deal with long term component failures, software updates and obsolescence of computer boards.

I would go so far to venture that industry engineers tried and failed at getting the navy to provide a practical solution that reliable and provides sailors confidence while in harms way.

This needs to stop so our military is supported and be built stronger!
