Hmm…
My question to you is: "how small is your god?"
If I were to, say, produce for you proof that nothing in the Bible actually happened - does your god survive the truth?
"Well, it did happen! So your question is irrelevant!" - you would say.
My point is that your view of God is built around concepts which require a physical proof that can't be proven. If the Slavs were to end up being the true ancestral beings descended from the gods - for example - then where would your God be?
For me, the bible is an interesting account of a tribe's origins, struggles, and ultimate quest to understand and realize divine principles. The god in it is not particularly important and has no particular power that isn't already a human one.
The more you research about world history and religions - the less unique the story of the hebrew tribes becomes. Interestingly, for me, at least, rather than "destroying" God - it simply grew my concept of what God truly was as it became obvious to me that many other cultures had their encounters and experiences with divine concepts - and more than a few things they couldn't explain but by magic or acts of a god.
I would suggest you go all the way back to the beginning. Apsu and Tiamat.
