I believe ‘The Plan’ includes (prefers) M Obama stepping in as a last minute surprise ‘D party savior’ presidential candidate.
POTUS said he wonders if they will bring out someone special at the last minute (can’t find the clip).
If MObama by-passes the debates then MO won’t be tarnished by them.
