Notice the FBI is skilled wordsmith. Comey told Trump he (Trump) wasn;t under investigation, but others in the FBI viewed that as a lie, because Comey knew investigating the campaign inevitably involves investigating Trump. Comey justified the lie.

Same for monitoring websites. FBI says it only does that with probable cause. It says that to fool the public. It is technically true, but the FBI manufactures probable cause wherever it has curiosity or animus.

Indeed. The case was weak at best, and Comey did not get any more favoritism that any other FBI or DOJ member would have obtained in the same or similar circumstance.

FedGov isn't the only place where judges and police get favoritism in the law enforcement system. This has always been the way of the world. "Rule of law" has always included the application of favoritism. It is naive to think otherwise.

But Comey did not get any "extra-special favortism." He got the garden variety type that DOJ gives its own.
