On Tuesday, P&G announced the company had taken a $5 billion loss for the quarter with Gillette, costing the company $8 billion in a noncash writedown.

Coombe admitted the backlash from consumers was more "intense" than he had foreseen, but defended the ad as "less provocative" than other iterations the company had considered.

Deep is story is real reason. Citizen policing. Peer shaming. Isn’t this what they do in Communist China?

Police departments in Phoenix and a handful of other cities also are investigating a database that appears to catalog thousands of social media posts by active-duty and former officers disparaging Muslims, black people, transgender people and others.

The Trump administration fired a senior adviser to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo due to her abusive management style.

Officials notified policy planning director Kiron Skinner on Thursday that she would be forced out, according to Politico. Skinner had a history of berating people and kicking them out of their offices. She twice used homophobic slurs and spread allegations that several people were having affairs.

Multiple members of Skinner's staff had threatened to quit if she was not fired.

Skinner joined the department with a background in academia about a year ago and was most recently in charge of researching and defining long-term U.S. policy goals. Skinner’s managerial problems contributed to nearly a third of her 20-person staff leaving or changing positions during her term.

One of Skinner's main projects involved developing a long-term strategy for U.S. relations with China.

GILROY, Calif. (AP) — The Santa Clara County coroner’s office says the gunman in the deadly Northern California festival shooting killed himself, a finding that contradicts earlier police accounts that officers fired the fatal shot.

Santino William Legan, 19, shot and killed three people — including two children — Sunday at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

Nicole Lopez, a senior office specialist in the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, says Friday that Legan’s cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee had previously said Legan was shot and killed by three officers who responded in less than a minute. Smithee has called the officers “heroes” for preventing additional casualties by taking down the shooter.

According to SFO, each airport guest creates a half pound of trash. In an effort to reduce the waste, the airport is limiting single-use food accessories such as napkins, coffee cups and chopsticks. In addition to plastic, SFO is banning items with “unsubstantiated claims” about their sustainability. Now, water bottles with messages like “environmentally friendly” or “bio-based” will have to be approved by the Biodegradable Plastics Institute (BPI) before they’re sold.
