My Father spent the last 2 years out of over 5 in the Hanoi Hilton, in the same room with McCain, and 50 others. The other 3+ years were in four other prisons. When he returned, the only things about McCain he said was that he had an enormous ego, arrogant and was obsessed with achieving a higher rank than his father and grandfather. McCain got shot down right before dad, but they weren't in the same prison until 72 or so. My father was always disappointed in his performance in the Senate, feeling he didn't do enough in support possible POW's left behind. Plus he was way to moderate for my dad. The only one dad knew was there was Garwood, and he thought they should have shipped him back there when he finally decided to come home. He actually turned and became a guard against our POW's. There were a couple others that were collaborators, but Nixons orders were that everyone that came home was a hero, and would pursue no charges. I was 12, and all I knew was that after 5+ years I finally had my Dad back. Lost him in 95. He was and still is my hero.
