Broken down it is like this…I rob a bank and you are the getaway driver. So suddenly YOU become MY lawyer and start negotiating with the FBI about information you will release. Yes, the information the FBI already has the legal right (and obligation) to discover, is now suddenly negotiable…and WITH AN ACCOMPLICE (you) who has suddenly transformed into my defense lawyer. As part of that negotiation you 'give me immunity' so I can expect something back. And that something is that you tell the FBI they can only search the glove box of the getaway vehicle and the ash tray. You may NOT look in the trunk where the stolen money is sitting. AND the FBI agrees to destroy the vehicle (think Breaking Bad and the RV) as soon as they search the glove box and ash tray.
THAT is what happened. Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson were Hillary aides. Then they transformed to her lawyers and 'made this deal' with the FBI.
