Greene County SWAT standoff ends with man taken into custody

The standoff has ended, and there's a suspect in custody, according to the Greene County Sheriff's office.

No injuries were reported.

The incident started just before 2 a.m., when the sheriff's office received a call that shots were fired, and and possible drugs being involved, said Maj. Shawn Prall. When deputies arrived at the home in the 3200 block of Ohio Route 72, they determined that it was unsafe to approach it.

So SWAT was activated and neighbors were evacuated, Prall said. They made contact with the suspect, who came out of the home after a while, and was taken into custody without incident, said Prall, who did not release the man's identity.

The incident remains under investigation, he said.

We are hearing reports out of Bowersville in Greene County of SWAT teams responding to the area of East Xenia Street.

We have a crew on scene and will update this story as we receive more information.
