We could have taken all of Mexico in the 1800s but nobody in America wanted to race mix. So we took the northern half which was mostly unpopulated. It was never being used by Mexicans.

Today we should only take Baja California which is still mostly unpopulated. Mexico hasn't done anything with it. LA and San Diego would become obsolete. Red Californian voters could regroup without losing their climate and lifestyle.
