Mass shootings were not prevalent before 1973 when the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an all volunteer military.

Maybe the current cultural fascination with “weapons” (as opposed to firearms) among primarily the ‘under 30’ generation, could greatly benefit from having an honorable cause, thereby allowing them to pursue their interest in weapons and warfare in order to benefit society -as opposed to violating the lives of so many innocent people by exterminating them senselessly and randomly?

Maybe it’s time to revisit The Military Selective Service Act and subsequent Solomon and Thurmond amendments to include mandatory service in the reserves, instead of using these massacres as propaganda to insight more violence and fear.
