A person was killed early Wednesday in San Marcos after their plane crashed, city officials said.
The small passenger aircraft took off from San Marcos Regional Airport at 5:54 a.m. and lost contact with air traffic control officials a minute later, city officials said.
The airplane was found at 8:03 a.m. on the ALERRT Center property, which is right next to the airport and used for active shooter response training.
San Marcos police and fire officials responded to the crash, the city said.
Officials have not released the identity of the person who was killed or the type of aircraft that crashed.
The National Weather Service observations at the San Marcos airport as of 6 a.m. reported fog with visibility limited to a half-mile.
