[Epstein] Prison guards charged with falsifying records

Two prison guards who were on duty on the night of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein's death have been charged with falsifying records.

They are accused of failing to check in on him every 30 minutes and fabricating log entries to show they had.

Both appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty.

1. Moreover, despite the requirement that officers on duty in the SHU conduct and document regular, 30-minute rounds, TOVA NOEL and MICHAEL THOMAS, the defendants, did not perform any of the required 30-minute rounds during their shift between approximately 12 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Nonetheless, NOEL completed and signed more than 75 separate 30-minute round entries falsely affirming that they had, in fact, conducted such rounds.

1. During the night, instead of completing the required counts and rounds, TOVA NOEL and MICHAEL THOMAS, the defendants, were seated at the correctional officers' desk in the SHU common area (as noted above, approximately 15 feet from Epstein's cell), used the computers and moved around the SHU common area.

For a period of approximately two hours, NOEL and THOMAS sat at their desk without moving, and appeared to have been asleep.

NOEL used the computer periodically throughout the night, including to search the internet for furniture sales and benefit websites.

THOMAS used the computer briefly around 1 a.m., 4 a.m., and 6 a.m. to search for motorcycle sales and sports news.

Heart and brain tumors

The $30 million NTP study took more than 10 years to complete and is one of the most comprehensive assessments to date of health effects in animals exposed to RFR.

The study found that exposure to high levels of RFR, like that used in 2G and 3G cell phones, was associated with:

Clear evidence of tumors in the hearts of male rats. The tumors were malignant schwannomas.

Some evidence of tumors in the brains of male rats. The tumors were malignant gliomas.

Some evidence of tumors in the adrenal glands of male rats. The tumors were pheochromocytomas.

DNA damage

DNA damage was significantly increased:

In the frontal cortex of male mice from either 3G or 2G cell phone radiation exposure.

In peripheral leukocytes of female mice from 3G exposure.

In the hippocampus of male rats from 3G exposure.

Male and female rats and mice were exposed to cell phone radiation at 1.5, 3, or 6 W/kg specific absorption rate (SAR) for 19 weeks from gestation day 5. The mice were exposed to radiation at 2.5, 5, or 10 W/kg SAR for 13 weeks from postnatal day 5.

DNA damage was assessed in three brain regions, in liver cells and in blood leukocytes using the comet assay method. Chromosomal damage was assessed in peripheral blood erythrocytes using the micronucleus assay.
