Sceplecture 1. Meat is the original word for food - meat of the fruit meant the edible parts - I think what you mean is do animals eat other animals - and some do, including the human animal, although it's better if they don't for them and all involved :)

Joaquin Phoenix has a high opinion of humans "at our best." And speaking of bests, I liked the Oscar speech (maybe) the best so far. How many hundreds of thousands will finally hear the truth about babies being taken from their mothers? I was a vegetarian for years and I didn't know. I salute him on both his love of human animals, and the rest of us.

That was an amazing speech from beginning to end and it's frustrating to me that in Greece in the one television channel I watched the news in both cases they didn't show the main part of the sppeech about the dairy industry and speciesism… And I bet many news reports on various tv channels around the world avoided that part.

Virginia Giuffre (née Roberts; 9 August 1983), is an American advocate of justice for sex trafficking victims. She is one of the most prominent and outspoken survivors of the child sex trafficking ring that was operated by the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She founded the nonprofit organization Victims Refuse Silence[1] in 2015[2] and has been widely featured in interviews with American and British media describing her experiences with Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, Prince Andrew, and a number of other high profile individuals.

Giuffre has pursued criminal and civil actions against Epstein and Maxwell in addition to appealing directly to the public for justice and awareness.[3] She sued Maxwell for defamation in 2015 and the case was settled in Giuffre's favor for an undisclosed sum in 2017.[4] On 2 July 2019, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ordered the unsealing of documents from the earlier civil suit by Giuffre against Maxwell.[5] The first batch of documents from Giufre's suit were released to the public on 9 August 2019,[6] further implicating Epstein, Maxwell, and a number of his associates. The following day, on 10 August 2019, Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan prison cell.[7]

Giuffe described her experiences of being sex trafficked by Epstein to Prince Andrew in an October 2019 interview for the BBC's Panorama which aired on 2 December 2019.[8] She urged "I implore the people in the UK to stand up beside me, to help me fight this fight, to not accept this as being OK."[9] Combined with Prince Andrew's own poorly received Newsnight interview with the BBC that aired in November 2019, Giuffre's direct appeal helped to shift public opinion in favor of justice for survivors.[8][10]
