Simple explanation:

Trip codes take a password that you enter, then combines it in a mathematical way with the "Salt" or a value string that never changes.

This allows the trip to be generated based on your password, and be consistent whenever the same "Salt" is being used.

For increased security, it's a good idea to periodically change that "Salt" to another value. This will result in a new Trip being generated from the same password.

So, CM has warned Q of what he was doing, and to set something up to be able to verify the "new" trip once the "Salt" was rotated to a new value.

Q will likely do this on the new board he has created, that only he can post to.
