Call to digg

The Children’s Investment Fund Management (UK) LLP (TCI) is a London‐based hedge fund management firm founded by Chris Hohn in 2003 which manages The Children’s Investment Master Fund.

TCI derives its name from a charitable foundation called The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), set up by Chris Hohn and his ex-wife, Jamie Cooper-Hohn. In an example of "venture philanthropy", CIFF initially received a portion of TCI’s profits and other donations.

Through changes set in motion in 2012, the fund and foundation were split up. The fund no longer donates money to the foundation on a contractual basis, though it may do on a discretionary basis.

The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (UK) (CIFF) is a large charitable organization headquartered in London with offices in Nairobi and New Delhi. It is a registered charity in England & Wales and in 2012–13 had an income of £100 million and spending of £98 million. With assets of £2.2 billion, it is the 4th largest charity in the UK.

The Clinton Foundation lists CIFF among 7 organisations from which it received more than US$25 million.
