‘Sources of funding’: Ronan Farrow says Hillary Clinton cooled on him when he investigated #MeToo crimes

Journalist Ronan Farrow said Hillary Clinton tried to distance herself from him when she discovered he was investigating sexual assault allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.

“It’s remarkable how quickly even people with a long relationship with you will turn if you threaten the centres of power or the sources of funding around them,” Farrow told the Financial Times.

“Ultimately, there are a lot of people out there who operate in that way. They’re beholden to powerful interests and if you go up against those interests, you become radioactive very quickly,” he said.

Clinton appointed Farrow as her special adviser on global youth issues in 2011 when she was secretary of state. Farrow said he had worked with Clinton “for years” when he was looking into the Weinstein story.

Weinstein donated tens of thousands of dollars to groups supporting Clinton’s candidacy during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to Federal Election Committee data.

After Farrow reported on numerous allegations against Weinstein, who is now facing charges, Clinton said she was “shocked and appalled.”

In 2018, Farrow said Clinton’s aides tried to back out of an interview with him after they learned it would be about Weinstein’s behavior.

"Hillary Clinton had scheduled an interview while it was at the height of the Weinstein reporting and her folks got in touch and said, 'We hear you're working on a big story,'" Farrow said. "[They] sounded very concerned and tried to cancel that interview."

Two men were shot — one of them fatally — in Gresham on the South Side, according to police.

In non-fatal shootings, a 12-year-old boy was grazed in the neck in Roseland on the Far South Side.

About an hour before, another person was grazed by a bullet in Jeffrey Manor on the South Side.

Earlier in the day, an arrest was made after two men were shot in Homan Square on the West Side.

The 23 and 28-year-old were walking about 11:45 a.m. in the 3600 block of West Lexington Street when another man opened fire on them from a box truck, police said. The 23-year-old was struck in the hand and the 28-year-old was hit in the foot.

The Piper PA-32 model, a single-engine private plane sometimes referred to as a Cherokee Six, “collided with terrain” and was “destroyed” in the impact, Chris Krepski, a spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, said in a news conference.

The TSB described the angle of impact as “very steep” and there was no sign of a post-impact fire. Investigators are still unsure whether inclement weather played a factor in the crash.

“Investigations are complex and we take the time needed to complete a thorough investigation,” TSB officials wrote in a statement. “However, should the investigation team uncover safety deficiencies that present an immediate risk, the Board will communicate them without delay.”

The statement continued: “Further, it is important not to speculate, or draw conclusions as to causes at this time. There are often many factors that can contribute to an accident.”

According to the CBC, a YouTube video from Anson Aviation posted in May features Oblokulov speaking about purchasing the plane to take his family on trips, including their first family outing with the plane — a camping trip at the Grand Canyon.
