In part three of an investigation aired on Tuesday by Britain's Channel 4 News, an undercover reporter films Cambridge Chief Executive Officer Alexander Nix saying: "We did all the research, all the data, all the analytics, all the targeting, we ran all the digital campaign, the television campaign and our data informed all the strategy."

Mr Zuckerberg is under growing pressure to testify before US Congress. Congressional staff said the company would brief US Senate and House aides on Wednesday.

 

A British parliamentary committee has summoned Mr Zuckerberg to answer questions as the Information Commissioner's Office pursued a warrant to search Cambridge Analytica's servers.

 

Commissioner Elizabeth Denham has also asked Facebook to cease its own audit of Cambridge Analytica's data use.

US regulatory agency the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is also investigating Facebook over its use of personal data, Bloomberg News has reported.

 

Meanwhile, Facebook's total market value has dropped by more than $US40 billion ($52 billion) in just two days.

 

The company's shares fellย 2.6 per cent on Tuesday on top of its almost 7 per cent plungeย the previous day.

 

Investors fear the company could face massive fines and that its dented reputation could scare off users and advertisers.
