So as of now, the inbeechmintz is still in the house.

They haven't filed formal impeachment charges yet (they change what they could be every day ffs), nor have they voted on the charges of course.

IF they filed charges, and a majority of the house votes for the charges (which might not even happen, they might censure** which is a formal slap on the wrist), ONLY THEN would it go to the senate.

And yes, there would be a trial, which would allow republicans to call witnesses like Hunter Biden, Eric Ciaramella, Adam Schiff, Alexandra Chalupa, Fusion GPS members, and others. But there's no way they'd vote to remove and Trump will win reelection easily anyway.

**It's not even clear they have the votes. They had the votes for an INQUIRY, but that's much different than voting for impeachment. But in all likelihood they'll vote to impeach, the senate won't remove, and Trump wins by a bigger margin than if they hadn't done this.
