The word according to the secret tradition designates the deep interior feeling binding an entity to its own individual existence, making it ardently desire to preserve and enlarge it.

Nachash, the snake within man is the radical egotism which causes an individual being to make of itself a center and to relate everything else to it. Moses defines this sentiment as the seducing passion of elementary nature and the secret spring with which the Creator has provided all (animate) things in nature; we know it by the name of natural instinct. Nachash is not to be understood as a separate being, but rather as a central movement given to matter, a hidden spring acting in the depths of things.

The self-seeking elements within man, the blind passions common to us all in our early stages of evolution are the offspring of this snake—Nachash. This word stands for an unreasoning self-centered instinct in all the oriental languages, it means an internal ardour, a centralized fire, agitated by a violent movement and seeking to extend itself. The Chaldaic derives from it all ideas of fear, sorrow, anxiety and evil, and painful passions. In the Arabic, Syriac and Ethiopian it signifies a tormenting affliction.

Taliban: Talks Should Resume From Where They Left Off

Unclear if Trump's talk of ceasefire will be accepted

President Trump’s announcement on Thursday that Afghanistan peace talks have resumed came as a surprise to many, because while there was an apparent process already going on, it wasn’t being made public by anyone.

Taliban officials confirmed that the talks are ongoing, with spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid saying that they are ready for talks, but that their position is the talks resume where they were previously suspended by President Trump.

Taliban negotiator Suhail Shaheen said much the same thing, saying that it is up to the US to get back to the table to resume the talks that were already nearly successful, and that their positions haven’t changed.

President Trump’s talk of resuming the process was welcomed, but his stance wasn’t entirely clear, as he claimed the obstacle was a ceasefire that the Taliban first refused, and now supposedly wants. Indications are that the US negotiators already knew that was not the case, and told Trump that the demand for a ceasefire was “overly ambitious.”

So while the talks have indeed resumed, Trump is accused of moving the goal posts, and setting the public narrative on the negotiation to expect a ceasefire, even as a negotiating team goes in not expecting that to be part of the deal.

Throughout much of the year, the US-Taliban talks had culminated in a near-deal, with everything apparently in place to end the war. President Trump withdrew and declared those talks “dead” amid reports that a deal would be signed in a matter of days.

Where the US intends to go from here is unclear, as the negotiators clearly had a deal to be made months ago, and it is only President Trump’s decisions that have prevented that. Trump’s new demands for a ceasefire may force some renegotiation.

Dem Rep Meeks Continues to Dish Campaign Cash to Company Owned by Chief of Staff’s Wife

Campaign also put thousands toward Lexus payments

Democratic representative Gregory Meeks (N.Y.) continues to push tens of thousands of dollars from his campaign's coffers to a company owned by the wife of his district chief of staff, Federal Election Commission records show.

Meeks's campaign committee has managed to raise cash even though he has not faced any real opposition in his heavily Democratic New York district. During the 2018 election cycle, Meeks faced two Democratic challengers but ran away with the primary, capturing 81 percent of the vote. He ran unopposed in the general election.

Meeks's lack of any significant opposition has allowed his campaign to also spend generously on credit cards, D.C. consultants, horse racing venues, and luxury car expenses instead of advertisements and other typical expenses associated with competitive campaigns.

Meeks reported more than $1 million in total receipts during the 2018 cycle. Of that money, nearly $800,000 was transferred from other committees including the National Association of Realtors Political Action Committee, Deloitte Political Action Committee, and Blackrock Funds Services Group LLC Political Action Committee. His campaign spent nearly as much as it raised.

Meeks, who will not face any opponent in the 2020 cycle, has raised $644,000 throughout the first three quarters of the year, filings show. His committee has so far spent $384,000, including money that has gone to the company owned by his aide's wife.

New York business records show that Einna, Inc., is registered to Patsy Simmons, who acts as Meeks's campaign treasurer, a typically unpaid position. Patsy Simmons is married to Robert Simmons, Meeks's district chief of staff in his Jamaica, N.Y., office.

Meeks's campaign committee has made three payments to Einna totaling $22,500 so far this year, his campaign's filings show. Einna was paid another $4,000 by Meeks's leadership PAC. The new payments this cycle come on the heels of the $60,000 Meeks pushed to the company during the 2018 cycle. Since 2010, the campaign has paid Einna more than $200,000.

Trump campaign says it won't grant press credentials to Bloomberg reporters

President Trump’s reelection campaign will no longer grant media credentials for rallies and other campaign events to Bloomberg News journalists.

The policy, announced on Monday by Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, came more than a week after the top editor at Bloomberg News told editorial and research staff that the company would not conduct in-depth investigations of Michael Bloomberg or his rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination.

By refraining from such investigative reporting, Bloomberg News had all but formalized “preferential reporting policies.”

“Since they have declared their bias openly, the Trump campaign will no longer credential representatives of Bloomberg News for rallies or other campaign events,” Parscale said in a statement. “We will determine whether to engage with individual reporters or answer inquiries from Bloomberg News on a case-by-case basis. This will remain the policy of the Trump campaign until Bloomberg News publicly rescinds its decision.”

The decision to withhold media credentials from Bloomberg News reporters underscores the difficult position journalists at the company find themselves in as Michael Bloomberg, the company’s founder and owner, embarks on an eleventh-hour White House run.

In a memo to staff last month, editor-in-chief John Micklethwait said that Bloomberg’s news outlets would “continue our tradition of not investigating Mike (and his family and foundation) and will extend the same policy to his rivals in the Democratic primaries.”

“We cannot treat Mike’s democratic competitors differently from him,” Micklethwait wrote.

At the same time, Bloomberg’s outlets “will continue to investigate the Trump administration, as the government of the day,” Micklethwait wrote, though he added that the news organization will “reassess how to do that” if Bloomberg wins the Democratic nomination next year and must face Trump in a general election matchup.

In a separate memo reported by CNBC, Bloomberg himself said that he would turn over control of the company to a management committee during his presidential campaign.

“This is not the first time I’ve stepped away to run for office,” Bloomberg wrote. “And like the last time, we have put in place an outstanding leadership team to take the reins.”

Micklethwait rejected Parscale’s allegations of bias on Monday, insisting that Bloomberg’s news outlets have covered Trump fairly throughout his political career and would do so regardless of the Trump campaign’s restrictions.

"The accusation of bias couldn't be further from the truth,” Micklethwait said in a statement. “We have covered Donald Trump fairly and in an unbiased way since he became a candidate in 2015 and will continue to do so despite the restrictions imposed by the Trump campaign."

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing multi-million penalties for failure to comply with requirements for the storage of personal data of Russians in the country. The document was posted on the official website of legal information on Monday.

The Russian Code of Administrative Offenses is supplemented by a norm introducing penalties for operators that failed to comply with the requirement for systematization and keeping of information in databases exclusively in the territory of Russia when gathering personal data of Russians, including via the Internet, i.e. which use repositories overseas. Fines for such an administrative offense are set as 30,000-50,000 ($466.9 - $778.1) rubles for individuals, 100,000-200,000 rubles ($1,557 - $3,112) for officials, and from 1 mln to 6 mln rubles ($15,580 - $93,480) for legal entities.

Fines will be higher in case of a repeated violation. They will total in such case from 50,000 to 100,000 rubles ($778.1 - 1,557) for individuals, from 500,000 to 800,000 rubles ($7,790 - $12,460) for officials, and from 6 to 18 mln rubles ($93,480 - 280,500) for legal entities.

Furthermore, a penalty is set for a repeated failure of an operator to comply with the requirement, whereby it should notify federal authorities about launching new programs for data receipt and processing. Such violation will entail a fine worth 5,000 - 10,000 rubles ($77.9 - $155.8) for individuals, from 50,000 to 100,000 rubles ($778.1 - 1,557) for officials, and from 500,000 to 1 mln rubles ($7,790 - $15,580) for legal entities.

The document also provides for higher payments for web-based search engines in case of their repeated violations of effective restrictions, including by referring users to banned sites. Fines are also stipulated for provision of links to banned resources to users.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro founded a new political party in November as he faces a noisy divorce with the Social Liberal Party (PSL). Since the beginning of his political career as a councillor in Rio de Janeiro in 1989, Bolsonaro has been a member of another seven political parties, in addition to PSL. To compete in the presidential elections, he joined the PSL, along with his sons Eduardo and Flavio.

The relationship has come to a messy end now. Bolsonaro was recorded stating that PSL President Luciano Bivar would be “burned out” while telling a supporter to “forget about the PSL”; his son Eduardo was embroiled in a battle for the PSL presidency in the House of Representatives; and, the party was hit by a candidacy scandal involving embezzlement and the Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio.

The launch of Bolsonaro’s new party, Alliance for Brazil, was held at the Royal Tulip Hotel in Brasilia on November 21. To be formally able to run an election, there is still a long way to go. It is necessary first to fulfil obligations established by the electoral legislation and to collect 500,000 signatures in Brazil, something that he is expected to do with ease.

The initial ideology of the Alliance already allows us to visualize the fundamentals of the new political party. The text provides an insight into the new party, and of course, it certainly has not divorced from the reactionary Bolsonaro that we have become accustomed with. The party “demands” the members to “defend life from conception,” “guarantee of access to weapons,” “defense of the family as an essential core of society,” “combat any ideology that seeks the eroticization of children,” “combat attempts to legalize illicit drugs,” and to “fight communism Globalism,” among other things.

Of course, he never offered a solution to the severe economic crisis in Brazil. What helped him be elected was to distract Brazilians over the struggle of identity politics rather than the ailing economy. It appears he will run on the very same platform, despite the massive 11.8% unemployment rate and the informal employment rate reaching a record high of 41.3%, which represents 38.6 million Brazilians.

Trials and tribulations of Central Asia integration

Crossing Tajikistan from west to northeast – Dushanbe to the Tajik-Kyrgyz border – and then Kyrgyzstan from south to north all the way to Bishkek via Osh, is one of the most extraordinary road trips on earth. Not only this is prime Ancient Silk Road territory but now is being propelled as a significant stretch of the 21st century New Silk Roads.

In addition to its cultural, historical and anthropological pull, this road trip also lays bare some of the key issues related to the development of Central Asia. It was particularly enlightening to hit the road as previously, at the 5th Astana Club meeting in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, I had had the pleasure of moderating a panel titled Central Asia at the Intersection of Global Interests: pros and cons of being Heartland.

The Heartland in the 21st century could not but be a major draw. Any serious analyst knows that Central Asia is the privileged corridor for both Europe and Asia at the heart of the New Silk Roads, as the Chinese-led BRI converges with the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

And yet, less than 10% of trade in Central Asia happens within the region, while 60% is directed to the EU. Idiosyncratic practices among the five former Soviet “Stans” still somewhat prevail. At the same time, there’s a consensus that measures such as a proposed, online, unified Silk Visa plan are bound to boost tourism and trade connectivity.

Banking experts such as Jacob Frenkel, chairman of JP Morgan Chase International, insist that the path towards inclusive growth in Central Asia entails access for financial services and financial tech; Nur-Sultan, incidentally, happens to be the only financial center within a 3,000-mile radius. Only a few years ago it was basically a potato field.

So it will be up to Kazakhs to capitalize on the financial ramifications of their independent, multi-vector foreign policy. After all, aware that his young nation was a “child of complicated history,” First President Nursultan Nazabayev from the beginning, in the early 1990s, wanted to prevent a Balkans scenario in Central Asia – as proposed as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy by Zbigniew Brzezinski in The Grand Chessboard. Recently Kazakhstan mediated quite successfully between Turkey and Russia. And then there’s the Kazakh hosting of the Astana process, which quickly evolved as the privileged road map for the pacification of Syria.

Lawmakers in South Carolina move to outlaw ‘transgender’ children from being chemically or physically altered by adults

Moves by sadistic lunatics on the Left to normalize sexually victimizing children for their own pleasure is finally getting some pushback, notably from Republican lawmakers in South Carolina who have had enough.

Legislation has been proposed that would prohibit adults from drugging or operating on “transgender” children for the purpose of enabling their so-called transition.

Specifically, the bill would ban the use of pharmaceuticals to treat “symptoms of clinically significant distress resulting from gender dysphoria,” while criminalizing all efforts to engage in transitioning minors under the age of 18 to a different gender.

State Rep. Stewart Jones, a Republican from Laurens, is the bill’s chief sponsor, Big League Politics reported. Jones told a local media outlet that he crafted the bill after being told about the tragic case of James Younger, a seven-year-old from Texas.

Transgenderism “has almost been weaponized,” Jones said, adding his bill “is to protect children.”

“For a child, it’s a whole different matter,” Jones noted further.. “Somebody under 18, they can’t buy cigarettes and alcohol, and so they shouldn’t be able to have a sex change.”

Obviously. But only a Left-wing sycophant and pervert would disagree.

Enter Chase Glenn, executive director of an LGBTQ-rights group called the Alliance for Full Acceptance. The organization is vehemently opposed to this common-sense bill that would protect kids from transgender predators.

“This is obviously a very troubling bill. This is an incredibly vulnerable population that we’re talking about, with an already high suicide rate,” he said. “This could have disastrous implications.”

No, it isn’t a “troubling bill.” What’s really troubling are people like Chase Glenn whose perverted notions of sexuality they are trying to mainstream.

Counseling seems to be a better solution than allowing perverts to talk kids into becoming something they were not born to be.

At least some lawmakers in South Carolina get that.

=FBI says Black Friday gun purchase background check numbers are second-largest single day in program history

The FBI fielded more than 200,000 background checks on Black Friday gun purchases, continuing a steady surge this year following a series of mass shootings that have renewed calls for more restrictive gun laws.

In all, the bureau posted 202,465 checks Friday, an 11% increase from last year and falling just short of the single-day record: 203,086 in 2017.

While background checks, required for purchases at federally licensed firearm dealers, are not a measure of actual gun sales, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System is a way to gauge market demand. The number of firearms sold Friday is likely higher because multiple firearms can be included in one transaction by a single buyer.

Black Friday traditionally has been one of the busiest for FBI analysts, but this year’s one-day number comes amid rising monthly volumes that are approaching the one-year record of 27.5 million in 2016.

Some of the biggest spikes came in August and September after attacks in El Paso and Odessa, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, that left 38 people dead.

Past spikes in background checks have been driven by fears that lawmakers would tighten gun laws.

For the first time since the bureau began conducting checks in 1998, the number of monthly checks has not fallen below 2 million this year.

Former Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico urged parliament to vote for the central bank to return the country’s gold reserves from the UK.

“You can hardly trust even the closest allies after the Munich Agreement,” Fico told reporters. “I guarantee that if something happens, we won’t see a single gram of this gold. Let’s do it as quickly as possible.”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic ordered the central bank to boost reserves and prompted the purchase of nine tons of gold in October.

While Russia began to actively build up gold in its reserves, the Netherlands organized the export of 122 tons of gold from London, and the Netherlands isn’t an Eastern European country.

Financial Times, published an article in which Rana Foroohar, a columnist who is known for her skepticism about gold, admits that even she is starting to get intimidated by the intensity with which interest in gold is rising:

“Gold bugs have always struck me as paranoid. You have to really believe the sky is falling in order to hoard physical bars in a digital age. So, it’s rather worrying that some investors and central bankers are talking up gold.”

Recently, billionaire financier Ray Dalio explained that the dollar and, accordingly, dollar debt obligations may depreciate due to the US budget policy and the actions of the US Federal Reserve and that in this context it is worth remembering the old financial saying.

“Gold is the only asset that you can have and which it will not be someone’s debt obligation.”
