By Jan. 1, more than 850 members of the West Virginia National Guard will be deployed to various places around the globe, including more than 145 soldiers of the 157th Military Police Co. that are stationed at Martinsburg and Moorefield, W.Va, West Virginia Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. James Hoyer said Tuesday.

"There's a facility (at Guantanamo Bay) that manages some of the individuals that wish to do the nation harm and they've got to be secured in a safe and secure environment and treated humanely, and that's what these folks will be responsible to do," Hoyer said.
