Footage exists on youtube of the ISS transiting the moon. When you see the scale of the ISS against the backdrop of the moon (the iss basically will look like a tiny dot), It gives you a good perspective of how easy to see something much smaller, like a satellite would be (pretty hard for most people without a telescope.)
