What, then, is the difference between “canceled” and “cancelled”?
Both words are one and the same. The only difference is that “canceled” is used in the United States and is recommended by the “Associated Press Stylebook” whereas “cancelled” is preferred in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and other English-speaking countries outside the United States.
