and six newsroom positions cut. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel saw 11 positions eliminated, including buyouts for seven reporters and one editor. The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky, lost nine people.
USA Today lost seven people, four from the newsroom. Thirty-five corporate jobs were also eliminated. Leading up to the merger, the company said cuts would result in savings of up to $300 million, suggesting more axing to come.
