>we disengaged or NEVER engaged with the social media pavlovian experiment.

This is interesting in that I haven't had a social media account of any kind since the days of AOL dialup… It never interested me enough to find a replacement for aol messenger… So I've never had 'legit' FB or Twatter accounts, because I felt they were fake and gay… Especially after watching how MySpace was taken down to make way for FB.

Anyone who I've ever admitted this (ie- NO personal social media accounts) to over the last 5 has looked at me like I grew another head while I was speaking. This dovetails in with the idea that people that HAVE been sucked in are unwittingly comped.

He could also be poking fun at Apple.

They're known to cripple older phones by pushing a "last update" that makes the eol phones run like shit on purpose, so users will have to go buy a new one, just to get back to a usable user experience.. I got in the habit of not updating my apple device (when I had one) until I knew when the "eol update" was, so I could avoid it. I stopped buying Apple because of this.

Literally forced obsolescence, whether the user actually needs a new device or not.

Now that we know what we know about what the displays in the new models are doing, I'm at somewhat of a loss as to what device to get next.
