Hackers who targeted Sony Pictures over the release of the film The Interview “got sloppy” and inadvertently revealed their links to North Korea, according to the director of the FBI.Speaking at the International Conference on Cyber Security James Comey said hackers had mistakenly sent messages that could be traced to IP addresses used exclusively by North Korea. Corney said the North Korean origins of the cyber attack were evident despite the use of proxy servers in other countries to throw investigators off their trail. "It was a mistake by them," he said. "It made it very clear who was doing this."

Wisconsin National Guard Leader Resigns in Wake of Sex Assault Review
MADISON, Wis. — The commander of the Wisconsin National Guard agreed to resign at Gov. Tony Evers' request Monday, following the release of a scathing federal report that found the Guard defied federal law, regulations and policies for years over the handling of soldiers' sexual assault and harassment complaints.
The report from the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C., found the Guard allowed internal investigations in defiance of federal law as well as Department of Defense and bureau policy; investigators falsely presented themselves as working for the federal bureau; case records were mismanaged; and Guard sexual assault response policies were not in compliance with federal regulations for more than five years.
Evers' office said in a statement that the governor asked the Guard's top leader, Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, to resign hours before his administration released the report Monday afternoon. Dunbar agreed to step down on Dec. 31.

A Spring Valley man who posted graphic videos online of himself pointing assault rifles at unknowing pedestrians from a room in the Sofia Hotel in Downtown San Diego is now in police custody on felony weapons charges.
Steve Andrew Homoki, 30, was booked into jail on Dec 5, hours after San Diego Police Department investigators seized 14 registered firearms, including two assault rifles, from his Spring Valley home.
His arrest came after an unknown person contacted federal agents on Nov. 30, stating Homoki had “gone off the deep end” and warned law enforcement that if confronted “he will open fire on federal agents or police.”
