No, they must take these votes seriously and make a record for posterity. The Repubs must continue to reinforce not just the idea, but the fact that they vote based on the Constitution. It will set them apart from those who vote with ulterior motives. If the Dems have enough votes, then it will probably be just Dems and expose the partisan nature of the proceeding. But as stated by other anons, woe to those Repubs, who vote yes to impeach, the next time they run for office.
