Was reading few days ago that he and Judge Antonin Scalia were good friends who spoke frequently, thing is I don't remember seeing him at his funeral..but then again would we? We have a pic of him at Trump tower during the transition. So wonder why that friendship was such a secret.

Ted Yoho latest House Republican to announce retirement from Congress

Florida Rep. Ted Yoho said he would not seek reelection in 2020, bringing the number of Republicans not seeking reelection in 2018 or pursuing another office to 19, compared to six Democrats. Yoho, 64, has been a vocal conservative since joining the House in 2013. He first came to Washington after defeating 24-year Rep. Cliff Stearns in the 2012 Republican primary. Yoho is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the House Committee on Agriculture, the Republican Study Committee, and a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

Yoho said he was honoring his term limits pledge, leaving office after eight years. “A government that represents the greatest country on earth. Those ideals come from our founding principles, our core values, and the Constitution that together make this country that ‘shining city on a hill’ as President Reagan often referred to America and as the ‘land of opportunity,’” Yoho said in a statement Tuesday. Yoho was a veterinarian and small business owner before entering Congress.

The high number of Republican House retirements stem, at least in part, from the party's minority status after the Democratic wave of 2018. Lawmakers in the House minority have little to no chance to influence legislation. And it rarely matters whether they show up for floor votes since Democrats can pass most legislation with a party-line approach. Republican leaders say they can win back the House majority in 2020, but they would need about a 20-seat pickup to do so, a tall order with Democratic voters likely energized to turn out and knock President Trump from office. Democrats now control the 435-member House, 233-197, with four vacancies and one independent. Yoho's district, the 3rd, comprises a large section of northern Florida. In 2016, Trump beat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton there 56%-41%, a similar margin to 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's win in the district in 2012.
