I am guessing this goes back waaaaayyy farther in time than 10 years. They have probably been hiding info this way forever.

If you can't FIND the info, then it never happened right?? Good way to hide black ops etc etc.

imho it really doesn't matter HOW this happens, the fact it wasn't corrected after the documents were scanned so can be searched correctly is bad bad bad.

 

For instance, let's say a court orders YOUR business to produce all documents related to X so you search and print and give them.

Later they raid your offices and discover HEY THESE were not given to us you obstructed justice etc etc.

You think you would get away with "oops, just software doing what software does??" hell no.

This is really really bad for transparency.
