AG giants would love to outlaw growing your own beans and potatoes, if they could. That's what the whole GMO thing is about. They create a copyrighted GMO version of a common crop, then have the UN or whatever government body set regulations on producing that crop which can only be met by using the GMO crop, and suddenly no one can grow Beans without paying a royalty to Monsanto.
