Germany
Legal annoyance for Twitter:
One of the German media institutions has initiated formal proceedings against the portal because the platform is said to have made pornographic content freely accessible.
With reference to Irish law, Twitter refused to delete or block user profiles that show photographs or videos with sexual acts, the media agency Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein in Norderstedt announced on
Thursday. These are profiles that would advertise sexual services and products and that are freely accessible to children and adolescents. The media institutions in Germany are responsible, among other
things, for the protection of young people in the media.
As the host provider, Twitter is responsible for the removal of pornographic content, the message says. If Twitter does not delete or block the user profiles, the media agency will continue the
procedure with the aim of a fine and a prohibition, possibly with the help of the Irish supervisory authorities. Twitter committed according to the Youth Media Protection State Treaty an administrative
offense and make himself punishable. From Twitter initially no opinion was available.
