Much obliged, Baker.

That's because we were taught on manual typewriters and two spaces after a period was standard procedure. And we weren't allowed to look at the keys and we had to hold our hands poised over "home row" which was/is:
asdf jkl; OR, as the teacher would say as s/he walked up and down the rows chanting loudly:
"AAA SSS DDD FFF JJJ KKK LLL SEMICOLON SEMICOLON SEMICOLON. RETURN!"
And oh yea, we got our hands whacked with a ruler if we tried to peek at our hands. To this day, over 40 years later, I am still grateful to that typing teacher. Thank God he taught me how to type. (Space Space)
Thank you very much, Anon! God bless you and yours.
