Things to try, in order.
-Click options, click hover over image.
-Force loading of a single image,
e.g. CTRL-click to open it by itself in a tab. You may find the bread works normal after that, but you have to do it once an hour.
-Force reload the tab (CTRL F5).
-Close your browser and open it again.
-Shutdown your device and restart. Open new browser.
If all of that doesn't work try clearing your web cache, either just for 8kun or for everything. Clear both cookies and cache(some browsers call it "history"). Close browser and open new browser.

I'm seeing all of those symptoms on and off but getting by. It was a pain to make 50+ 5-meme posts in the memes bread believe me, lots of false starts and retries.
Just reloading the page often fixes the missing-images problem. Or changing IP address then reloading.
For some reason you get a new cookie at the top of the hour every hour.
