I've quit Facebook with no withdrawal. I have a meager amount of Twitter followers which others perceive you as being a nothing or suspect. For some reason I don't get a (you) on my chan posts using an iPad. I also have no filter ability.

Kids are all starting Utube channels and obsess over their number of followers.

MSM probably has the same dopamine release when the ratings come out every week.

Quite honestly, I think Qs booms had to do with firings, resignations and big news stories, not Texas. I'd bet on it.
