Austrian-Lites Stuffed Again: Dow, S&P 500 and NASDAQ Hit New All-Time Record Highs

Major US stock indices are trading at record highs this morning. Thus, once again underscoring that Austrian-lites have no deep understanding of Austrian business cycle theory, the stock market or general financial principles.

As I regularly point out, the business cycle is a boom-bust cycle and there is nothing, zero, that always suggests a bust is immediately around the corner.

This is point one that Austrian-lites fail to understand and it just gets worse from there.

I really think many of them have no detailed understanding of ABCT and just jump at headlines to justify their downturn forecasts.

The first Lite embarrassment was forecasting that the December 2015 Federal Reserve 25 basis point hike was going to cause a stock market crash and recession. Nine rate hikes followed that one and still no stock market crash or recession.

The next event that caused the Lites to go into high panic was the short-lived reversal of the yield curve into negative territory. This absurd panic clearly revealed the lack of understanding of deep financial mechanics.

Flashback: Corruption, Thy Name Is Hillary Clinton

Back in 2016, the Clinton Foundation admitted that it received a "gift" from Qatar to the tune of $1 million while Hillary Clinton was U.S. Secretary of State. Although she promised to let the State Department review any new or significantly increased foreign donations, she (and her husband) failed to inform the agency of Qatar's royal donation.

"Oops, sorry about that!"

According to Reuters, Qatari officials "pledged the money in 2011 to mark the 65th birthday of Bill Clinton." They also wanted to meet Bill "in person the following year to present him the check."

Yeah, right. As the Daily Wire's editor-at-large, Josh Hammer, puts it: "Who among us has forgotten to report a million-dollar donation from the world's number one funder of international Sunni Jihad?"

Google Maps is a very popular and useful mapping service that you can have right now. From helping us with our daily commute, saving our asses in new places, getting traffic updates, it does it all.

It even found the body of a man who disappeared 22 years ago. Although, there are times when it can leave you in a muddy farm.

You can judge its success by the fact that China, which has banned almost every Google product, allows Google Maps to exist on its soil. Of course, Google has to agree on a lot of terms.

Anyway, one of the core elements that make Google Maps are tons of images, and to source them, the search giant does what not?

Judge William H. Webster is currently the Chairman of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). Judge Webster was sworn in as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on May 26, 1987. In this position he headed the United States intelligence community and directed the CIA until September 1991. Following his departure from the CIA, he joined the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, LLP in Washington, DC. Webster served as United States attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri from 1960 to 1961. In 1970, he was appointed a judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and in 1973 was elevated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. During his service on the bench, Webster was chairman of the Judiciary Conference Advisory Committee on the Criminal Rules and was a member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Habeas Corpus and the Committee of Court Administration. He resigned on February 23, 1978 to become director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he served for nearly a decade before moving on to lead all foreign intelligence agencies of the United States as CIA director.

In March 2001, you asked me to lead a Commission to study security programs within the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Your request came at the urging of FBI Director Louis Freeh, who had concluded that an outside review was critical in light of the then recently discovered espionage by a senior Bureau official.

In discharging my duties, I turned to six distinguished citizens as fellow Commissioners and to a staff of highly qualified professionals. I want to acknowledge the diligence with which my colleagues pursued the complex matters within our mandate. The Commission took its responsibilities seriously. It was meticulous in its investigation, vigorous in its discussions, candid in sharing views, and unanimous in its recommendations.

When I agreed to chair the Commission, you promised the full cooperation and support of the Department of Justice and the FBI. That promise has been fulfilled. I would like to thank the Department�s Security and Emergency Planning Staff for the expert help they gave us, and I especially commend the cooperation of Director Mueller and FBI personnel at every level, who have all been chastened by treachery from within.

Germany’s migrant-smuggling activist switches to climate cause, calls for civil disobedience and ‘eco-socialism’

Sea captain Carola Rackete broke the law to pull migrants out of the Mediterranean and bring them to Italy. However, support for immigration in Europe is falling, and the outlaw activist has embraced a new cause: the environment.

The line between ‘activist’ and ‘criminal’ is often a blurry one, and 31-year-old Carola Rackete has one foot to either side of it. A former conservation volunteer and officer on Greenpeace ships, the German activist took over the helm of the ‘Sea-Watch 3’ in June. A month later, she was arrested in Italy for docking on the island of Lampedusa with 53 migrants in tow.

The Italian government had closed its ports to migrant ships in June, and the Dutch government - whose flag the Sea Watch 3 sailed under - described her organization as “not a rescue service but a ferry service.” Rackete was honored by left-wing politicians across Europe, but is being investigated for aiding human trafficking, as her ship would regularly sail just kilometers off the Libyan coast, ferrying migrants on the last leg of their trip to Europe.

Italian authorrities are investigating her for disobeying an order not to enter Italian waters, and for aiding illegal immigration. If found guilty she could face 15 years in prison.

European Commission to check if Polish bill on judges ‘undermines court independence’

The European Commission will closely examine whether a new Polish draft law undermines the independence of the judiciary, a spokesman for the European Union’s executive, Christian Wigand, said on Monday.

The EU has accused Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party of politicizing the judiciary since it swept to power in 2015. PiS argues that the reforms are necessary to make Poland’s courts more efficient.

Under the legislation PiS submitted to parliament on December 12, judges could be sacked if they question the legitimacy of its judicial reforms. It also says judges must inform their superiors of past membership of political parties and of any activity in non-governmental organizations and on social media.

PiS wants to prevent Polish judges from ruling that their peers, nominated by a panel appointed by PiS, are not independent and therefore that their rulings may be questioned, Reuters said.
