Iran has dismissed the latest claims by US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin that Washington's unilateral sanctions on Tehran are the alternative to military confrontation, saying sanctions are indeed a full-fledged war targeting civilians.

In an interview with CNBC’s Hadley Gamble at the Doha Forum in Qatar published on Saturday, Mnuchin said sanctions like those on Iran are used in order to avoid potential war.

“The reason why we’re using sanctions is because they are an important alternative for world military conflicts. And I believe it’s worked,” he said, adding, “So whether it’s North Korea, whether it’s Iran or other places in the world, we take the responsibility very seriously.”

"You Should Go To Fuc*in' Jail": Chaos Ensues As Schiff Accused Of 'Treason' At California Event

A Glendale, California town hall event hosted by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) became less than civil on Saturday, after hecklers accused the House Intelligence Committee chairman of "treason" and being a "liar," according to the Los Angeles Times.

As Schiff began speaking, a man and two women held up signs reading,"Don’t Impeach.” When they were asked to take down the signs, they refused. -LA Times

Around a dozen Trump supporters attended the event to discuss the House's recent recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Scattered throughout the audience, the protesters began yelling "Liar!" at the de facto ringleader of House Democrats' efforts to impeach President Trump.

After some aggressive shushing from Schiff supporters, the audience members yelling at Schiff removed their jackets, revealing pro-Trump shirts. One of them then said, "you should go to fuckin' jail … you will be going to jail, for treason."

"This man is a fuckin' liar!" shouted another. The outburst lasted around 15 minutes, before the event continued. Three Glendale police officers were present, and no arrests or injuries were reported.

The event was organized by the Armenian National Committee of America — Western Region to thank the U.S. House of Representatives for recently passing a resolution affirming its recognition of the Armenian genocide and celebrating the U.S. Senate’s passage of the resolution.

The measure’s passage is considered a rebuke to Trump, who had sought its delay, and to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who had lobbied the White House to block the designation. The Turkish government disputes that a genocide took place.

Erdogan, in an Oval Office visit last month, warned of dire consequences for the Washington-Ankara relationship if the “genocide” term were to be formalized. The Senate resolution declared it U.S. policy “to commemorate the Armenian Genocide through official recognition and remembrance” and “reject efforts to enlist, engage, or otherwise associate the United States government with denial of the Armenian Genocide or any other genocide.” -LA Times

"I was grateful for the opportunity to share in the community’s celebration of the historic passage of the Armenian Genocide resolution in both the House and Senate, and thankful for the recognition of the efforts of so many people who made this day possible," Schiff said in a statement following the event.

"Unfortunately, some came to the event with the intent to disrupt, but the Armenian community has had to overcome far greater challenges along the road to recognition than to be deterred by a few angry voices."

Same Big Pharma Empire Behind Opioid Epidemic Now Profiting From Overdose Cure

An affiliate of the U.S.-based pharmaceutical company that brought us OxyContin, the blockbuster painkiller blamed for propelling opiate addiction to epidemic proportions, is now seeking to cash in by selling the cure to overdosing on the same drug.

While Purdue Pharma, the major pharma firm owned by the notorious Sackler family, is engulfed in a tidal wave of negative public opinion and lawsuits across the United States, its overseas affiliate Mundipharma has quietly expanded across the globe in a bid to monopolize the market for treating opioid overdoses, the Associated Press reports.

Mundipharma’s flagship product is a naloxone nasal spray called Nyxoid, which recently received approval from regulators in Europe, Australa, and New Zealand. The company’s European division has attempted to present the antidote as an important option for combating heroin overdoses, which remains a leading cause of overdose deaths across European countries.

With a cost of over $50 per dose in some European countries, the price of Nyxoid is far more expensive than heroin as well as injectable forms of naxalone. Similar nasal sprays have cost over $100 in the U.S., where opioid overdoses have claimed the lives of well over 400,000 people—a death toll that continues to climb as the opioid epidemic continues unabated.

Mundipharma has still been aggressively promoting the antidote at medical conferences. AP reports that at one conference, the company advertised the product with the slogan: “Be prepared. Get naloxone. Save a life.”

Yet critics argue that the company that aggressively promoted OxyContin – fanning the deadly opioid addiction wave within the United States that eventually went worldwide – should be providing much cheaper, if not free, naloxone products.

Dr. Andrew Kolodny, a prominent critic of Purdue, told AP:

You’re in the business of selling medicine that causes addiction and overdoses, and now you’re in the business of selling medicine that treats addiction and overdoses? That’s pretty clever, isn’t it?

Lawsuits have also revealed how the massive complex of pharmaceutical firms owned by the Sackler family have sought to cash in on addiction treatments even while they pulled out all the stops in ensuring the proliferation of OxyContin. The company has denied that it has tried to profit from opioids and addiction treatment simultaneously.

However, in one internal document from Purdue uncovered in a Massachusetts lawsuit, an illustration showed a blue funnel with the top end labeled “pain treatment”—a reference to the opioids—and the bottom labeled “opioid addiction treatment.” The same presentation also said that the company had an opportunity to become an “end-to-end provider,” effectively manufacturing both the disease of widespread painkiller abuse and its cure.

According to the complaint, Purdue staff wrote:

It is an attractive market … Large unmet need for vulnerable, underserved and stigmatized patient population suffering from substance abuse, dependence and addiction.

Lawyers for the Sackler family have sought to cast blame for the secret plan, known as Project Tango, on a third-party equity fund. Yet Mundipharma’s efforts to promote naloxone bear a stunning resemblance to Purdue’s envisioned role as an “end-to-end provider.”

Stephen Wood, a fellow at Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics who has researched how prices of naloxone products in the U.S. have escalated as the addiction crisis swelled, believes that the Sackler empire should make such antidotes widely available as a simple matter of ethics. He said:

If they were trying to find a solution, they would just distribute naloxone for free.

They could use all that money they made off opioids to help support a program where they are giving away this life-saving medication.

Medical News Today reports that, in 2011, there was a modest uptick in the number of prescriptions written in the US.

The increase brought the total to: 4.02 billion.

Yes, in 2011, doctors wrote 4.02 billion prescriptions for drugs in America.

That’s an average of roughly 13 prescriptions for each man, woman, and child.

That’s about one new prescription every month for every American.

The Medical News Today article concluded, “…the industry should be heartened by the growth of the number of prescriptions and spending.” Yes, I’m sure the drug industry is popping champagne corks.

We’re talking about prescriptions here. We’re not talking about the number of pills Americans took. We’re also not counting over-the-counter drugs or vaccine shots.

Pharmacopoeia, a 2011 exhibition at the British Museum, estimated that “the average number of pills a person takes in his or her own lifetime in the UK is 14,000.” That’s as a result of prescriptions. Including over-the-counter drugs, the 14,000 number would swell to 40,000 pills taken in a lifetime.

What are the effects of all these drugs?

We are looking at a supreme Trojan Horse that is rotting out America and all other countries from the inside. Wars, no wars, economic deprivation, economic prosperity, the drugs continue to do their work, debilitating and ruining and terminating lives.

Many sources can be cited to confirm this assessment.

On January 8th, 2001, the LA Times published an article by one of the best medical reporters in the business, Linda Marsa: “When Good Drugs Do Harm.” Marsa quoted researcher Dr. David Bates, who indicated that, in the US, there are 36 million serious adverse reactions to medical drugs per year.

On July 26, 2000, the Journal of the American Medical Association published the most stunning mainstream estimate of medical-drug damage in history: “Is US health really the best in the world?” The author was Dr. Barbara Starfield, a respected public-health researcher at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

Starfield concluded that medical drugs were killing Americans at the rate of 106,000 per year.

That’s a million deaths per decade.

This is a conservative sketch of the Trojan Horse that has been placed in the center of every country in the world.

Judge Allows Georgia to Purge More Than 300,000 Names From Its Voter Rolls – Stacey Abrams Group Files Emergency Motion to Stop Purge

A federal judge on Monday allowed Georgia to purge 309,000 names from its voter rolls but he also scheduled a second hearing to hear additional arguments.

About 309,000 names were set to be erased from Georgia’s list of registered voters Monday night, a mass cancellation that a federal judge allowed to move forward.

A voting rights group, Fair Fight Action, said in federal court Monday that the registration cancellations target roughly 120,000 inactive voters who would otherwise be eligible to participate in elections but are being removed because they haven’t cast a ballot since at least 2012. The rest of the people on the cancellation list either moved from Georgia or mail sent to them by election officials was undeliverable.

By Tuesday morning, the number of registered voters in Georgia was set to shrink from 7.4 million to 7.1 million.

The cancellation list doesn’t show racial disparities, with the number of black and white voters roughly matching their proportion of the state’s registered voters, according to an analysis by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Fair Fight Action, a voting rights group started by sore loser and 2018 failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, immediately filed an emergency motion to stop the purge.

“Georgians should not lose their right to vote simply because they have not expressed that right in recent elections, and Georgia’s practice of removing voters who have declined to participate in recent elections violates the United States Constitution,” Fair Fight Action CEO Lauren Groh-Wargo said in a statement.

Stacey Abrams lost the Georgia gubernatorial race by over 55,000 votes, but she refused to concede and blamed racism and voter suppression from a previous voter roll purge for her lack of votes.

Democrats Have the Votes to Impeach President Trump

House Democrats now have the votes to impeach President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported late Monday.

The Wall Street Journal‘s Siobhan Hughes, Lindsay Wise, and Natalie Andrews wrote Monday evening:

By Monday afternoon, at least 18 from the 31 Democratic-held districts that Mr. Trump won in the 2016 presidential race had announced they would support the abuse-of-power and obstruction of Congress charges, according to a Wall Street Journal survey, with two saying they are opposed.

In other words, given the recent surge over the weekend into early this week of announcements of support for Articles of Impeachment from a number of vulnerable House Democrats who had been holding out until now, the Democrats have crossed the threshold necessary to impeach the president–barring any unforeseen surprises.

The fact that Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan–an independent who left the GOP over his impeachment support–is going to vote for impeachment, and that there are four vacancies in the House, the Democrats need 216 votes at a minimum to pass Articles of Impeachment, assuming all House members are present and voting. That also means that if 19 total Democrats from these districts that President Trump won in 2016–of which there are 31–were to join all Republicans to vote against Articles of Impeachment, it would fail on the House floor.

One Democrat, a member of leadership, House Agriculture Committee chairman Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN) has announced he will vote against impeachment. Another, Rep. Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, has also announced his opposition to impeachment and is expected to abandon the Democrat Party over this and join the GOP sometime this week.

But, now that 18 of these Trump district Democrats–according to the Wall Street Journal–have joined ranks with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s push for impeachment, only 11 more remain possibilities for no votes, meaning that is inevitable that President Trump will be impeached by the House on Wednesday barring some unforeseen outcome wherein several Democrats from somewhere else in the conference oppose impeachment.

The Journal‘s Hughes, Wise, and Andrews wrote:

With the new announcements of support, and assuming no unexpected defections, Democrats have enough votes to impeach the president. While Americans nationally are about evenly split on whether they back impeachment, according to an average of polls by RealClearPolitics, some of the Democrats in the Trump-won districts acknowledged potential political risks.

The bigger question that looms over this revelation is whether there will be consequences for those Democrats from battleground districts for casting this vote for Articles of Impeachment, and if so, what said consequences will be. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who is leading the GOP’s effort to retake the House majority next year, is bullish on GOP chances of retaking the House in the wake of this impeachment push by Democrats.

“It’s not just me who thinks it, if you just look at the polling in their own districts,” McCarthy said on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 this weekend when asked if the impeachment drive is hurting vulnerable Democrats. “You remember what Nancy Pelosi was telling these Democrats, that it was going to get more popular. They go into the press. They control the entire meeting. They make it different than we’ve ever seen impeachment before. No due process. No ability for the minority to ask for witnesses. Controlling of the time. And it’s become less popular. If you look at the polling today, a number of these Democrats—Kendra Horn [from Oklahoma] and others, they’re going to become upside in their districts. New Mexico, 37 percent of the state only supports impeachment, where a majority does not support it. There is more places to play than just those 31 seats.”
