Vatican ambassador to France resigns after molestation allegations

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop Luigi Ventura, the Holy See's ambassador to France, who has been accused of sexual molestation, the Vatican said on Tuesday.

Ventura last week turned 75, the age at which all bishops are obliged to hand in their resignations to the pope. Francis sometimes accepts them quickly, as in Ventura's case, and sometimes keeps people in their jobs longer.

French authorities opened an investigation into Ventura in January after a junior official at Paris City Hall accused him of molestation.

The Vatican lifted Ventura's diplomatic immunity in July so he could be questioned by prosecutors.

Ventura has not commented on the allegations.

Internet agency discovers explicit photos on presidentโ€™s computer โ€” fires IT staff, keeps president

Imagine your boss โ€” the company president โ€” asks you to transfer files from one company computer to a new one. As the work is underway, sexually explicit photos start popping up on the screen from files he has been storing.

Human resources is alerted and an investigation takes place. You and two colleagues from the IT department are fired. The boss continues in his job.

Thatโ€™s what happened at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) โ€” the federally created agency that sells Canadaโ€™s โ€œ.caโ€ internet domain, and offers cybersecurity and other programs nationally.

After an in-house investigation in 2016, president and CEO Byron Holland continued in his job at CIRA.

Three computer staff members were fired, given payouts and told never to speak of the matter.
