It's the best imaginable way to introduce evidence of the Dem's corruption to the public. That's why I'm incredulous of this plan by McConnell to promptly motion for dismissal. I think the Dems see what is about to happen and are trying to back out of it. So MM is telling them "Oh sure, we'll TOTALLY NOT call any witnesses that will dismantle your whole party! LL is more plausible for the first arrest than Bush or Cheney. But I still think there needs to be a lot of public disclosure of wrongdoing before anything happens. You can't just spring something that big on the public psyche. This is why I'm leaning towards it being one of the characters in the Spygate/RussiaHoax/UkraineCorruption movie we're watching right now.
The Dems' problem is that their voters WANT those bat shit crazy candidates. They've screwed themselves by pushing rhetoric that pushed their core voters so far left that those voters can't select someone who would be able to win in the general election. Trump won partly because her was, as Jeb! rightly said, "not a conservative". For the Dems to appeal sufficiently to moderates they need to pick someone who is "not a liberal". Anything less is to bring a knife to a gun fight. They're screwed.
