It IS a big challenge to get them. They send you to hell and back with all the paperwork they ask for for adoption. The background checks are understandable but they make the whole process ridiculously complicated and exasperating. We wanted to adopt. Every time we thought we'd given them all the papers theyasked for they kept asking for more and more. Been going on several months.Even if you previously had bio children they require that you attend parenting classes for 2 weeks. You go to class for a few hours every day. We went in the evenings because the day time option obviously doesn't work if you have a career. Many of the couples dropped out. Then they began asking for more paperwork. Its so bad that we are considering giving up. I can see why many people do, and why so many kids don't get adopted. The system is set up to keep the kids there. Thats how all the administrators and case workers, and problem solvers get to keep their jobs and benefits.
Its only easy if you are rich and famous like Angelina Jolie and Madonna. Or if you are a freak who gives money to certain foundations. They they let you adopt a dozen kids with no questions asked. Or, if you are a pedo or a known criminal who otherwise loves to abuse kids. We read about these people in the news all the time---and it blows my mind that they were allowed to adopt. Its also a whole lot easier if you adopt internationally vs adopting kids from the foster care system. I can see how and why they have all these charitable foundations 'that 'help' kids and why the trafficking business is so big.
