The maxim "lurk more" is not just culture, it's an imperative. Why?
-You're walking into someone else's house, you have no idea how they operate
-You have to lurk to understand many of the concepts discussed
-Most oldfags have a degree of background knowledge on topics discussed due to sometimes decades of independent research
-Oldfags who have been "here" (before Q appeared) have a shared experience, shared knowledge, and can recall obscure details mentioned by someone else who was also there or recalls an article, previous dig etc
-You have to watch how shilling works, the methods and techniques that are used and how they are avoided, countered and shut down. This includes the whores who come here to post their tits and do nothing but distract, as well as the "anons" who "defend" them.
-Learn how to participate in a way that is not superfluous; this is not a goddamn chat room, we don't need to know when you're going to bed or anything about your personal life
When you come here you are jumping into a very deep part of the ocean. It's not that you can't swim or everyone doesn't believe you can swim, but until you lurk for a long time (2 years generally) you are not properly equipped to participate in this particular venue fully. Nothing prevents you from adding research or memes you find or make, but lurking for a long time will help you to not only participate more meaningfully and contribute more, but also grow as a person and help.
Again, nothing prevents you from posting but if you show your ass you can be guaranteed you will be called out. This is the sausage grinder, a hurt-box. Contrary to what newfags (who think themselves oldfags for being 'here' since '17) believe, we are not here to make friends or be your friend, but that doesn't preclude friendliness or affection, a paradox that can only be truly understood by lurkiing a long time. There are very good reasons for the "rules" and without lurking for a long time you cannot learn them or understand why they exist, which believe it or not, are very valid and wise.
There is a SFW board for normalfags and newfags.
This is not meant to be condescending or "divisive" in any way, but merely as an explanation that will hopefully help you and others.
