Visible light has different rules than pigments.

With pigments the primary colors are red, yellow, & blue.

On a color wheel, red would be opposite to green

Primary colors of Light are Red, Green, & Blue.

On the visible light spectrum, red and blue are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Really there isn't a definitive answer on this matter. Unless of course, specific application is mentioned, prior to entering into an argument.
