On Wednesday, President Trump argued the impeachment against him shouldn't be allowed to happen because of mistakes the FBI made when it launched the investigation into his 2016 campaign ties to Russia. CBS News senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge joined CBSN with more.

Michigan mayor charged in federal six-figure fraud investigation

Taylor Mayor Rick Sollars' unsealed 33-count indictment states he conspired with his community development manager, Jeffrey Baum, and developer Shady Awad to award tax-foreclosed properties to Awad's company in exchange for cash and other favors.

Awad is accused of providing over $30,000 in renovations to Sollars' home, over $11,000 in renovations to his lake house, and over $12,000 in appliances, cabinetry, cash and other valuables, in exchange for political influence.

Using the Right of First Refusal Program program, Sollars would exercise the city's right to buy foreclosed properties from the state treasurer and appoint a developer to renovate the property in exchange for eventual ownership.

Prosecutors said they'll ask a judge to let the government keep about $206,000 seized from Sollars' home in February. The government claims the money was stolen from the mayor's own campaign fund.

Sollars, 45, has denied wrongdoing. He said in a video posted on Facebook that the cash was won in Las Vegas.

“We looked at this indictment. We're not scared by it," defense lawyer Todd Flood told reporters. “We’re going to take this day and clear my client because he did nothing wrong, and he’s going to continue to serve the people of Taylor.”

Custom silicon chips, mind-reading technology, and a built-from-scratch operating system. Facebook is investing billions of dollars in technologies that could make it a gatekeeper when—and if—augmented reality becomes the next big thing.

In Burlingame, California, a small city about 15 miles north of Facebook’s Silicon Valley headquarters, a monument to the social media giant’s future ambitions is taking shape. Construction is underway on a 770,000-square-foot new campus, with the capacity for about 4,000 employees, that will be devoted entirely to a burgeoning Facebook group making new hardware.

Undeterred by past setbacks in the category—including a big investment in virtual reality, which still remains a niche product—Facebook is doubling down in hardware by building or acquiring many of the key ingredients necessary to run the devices it plans for the future, such as augmented reality glasses. It has teams devoted to making its own custom silicon chips, a voice assistant powered by artificial intelligence, and technology capable of deciphering human thoughts.

A far left magazine, or very “progressive,” as some would call it, which has been doing poorly and hasn’t been involved with the Billy Graham family for many years, Christianity Today, knows nothing about reading a perfect transcript of a routine phone call and would rather…..

….have a Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion & your guns, than Donald Trump as your President. No President has done more for the Evangelical community, and it’s not even close. You’ll not get anything from those Dems on stage. I won’t be reading ET again!

>Starliner Rocket has encountered an Anomaly and will not reach ISS

https://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/boeings-starliner-crew-capsule-launches-1st-space-flight-67846679

Boeing's Starliner capsule makes launch debut, but hits snag

Boeing's new Starliner capsule ran into trouble and went off course in orbit minutes after blasting off Friday on its first test flight, a crucial dress rehearsal for next year's inaugural launch with astronauts.

Everything went flawlessly as the Atlas V rocket soared with the Starliner just before sunrise. But a half-hour into the flight, Boeing reported that the capsule didn't get into the position needed to get it to the International Space Station.

Officials said flight controllers were looking into all their options and stressed that the capsule was in a stable orbit.

The Starliner was supposed to reach the space station and stay for a week. The United Launch Alliance rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and was visible for at least five minutes, its white contrail a brilliant contrast against the dark sky.

Thousands of spectators jammed the area, eager to witness Starliner's premiere flight.

This was Boeing's chance to catch up with SpaceX, NASA's other commercial crew provider that sucessfully completed a similar demonstration last March. SpaceX has one last hurdle — a launch abort test — before carrying two NASA astronauts in its Dragon capsule, possibly by spring.

A successful Starliner demo could have seen Boeing launching astronauts by summer.
