Meet Adam Schiff’s Republican Challenger Eric Early: ‘I Care Deeply About This Country; And I Hate Adam Schiff With a Passion’
Republican Eric Early’s Anti-Schiff Bid for Congress - Top Lawyer in Santa Barbara Schools Fight Challenges Dems’ Impeachment Prosecutor
In Santa Barbara, L.A. attorney Eric Early is a familiar figure at school board meetings who represents a group of parents suing over what he calls a “creeping, social-justice-warrior, alt-left takeover” of the district.
Now, the conservative Republican lawyer is going national with the provocative style and rhetoric he’s displayed in local public hearings and courtroom proceedings.
Amid political and cultural warfare raging from Washington to West Hollywood over the impeachment of Donald Trump, Early has embarked on a longshot campaign to oust the president’s chief congressional prosecutor.
“Adam Schiff is a viper,” Early told the Independent, referring to the high-profile leader of the House Democrats’ impeachment effort, who is also the longtime representative of L.A.’s 28th Congressional District.
“I care deeply about this country,” he added. “And I hate Adam Schiff with a passion.”
Not to put too fine a point on it.
A MINORITY VIEW: Early surfaced in Santa Barbara last year, when he began speaking on behalf on a small group of parents, since allied as Fair Education Santa Barbara, unhappy with some of the district’s woke progressive policies.
Most notably, as this newspaper has frequently reported, these parents object to big-ticket contracts with Just Communities Central Coast, a lefty nonprofit providing specialized anti-“implicit bias” training for the district.
After the school board approved a $300,000 contract with the organization in 2018, Early’s firm filed suit. A federal judge tossed the lawsuit, but the attorney refiled on behalf of parents in Santa Barbara Superior Court.
Judge Thomas Anderle issued a ruling in October rejecting parts of Fair Education’s suit but allowed a claim against the district and outgoing Superintendent Cary Matsuoka to proceed, which alleges that the disputed contract should have been subject to competitive bidding.
Amid the complex litigation, political arguments in favor and against Just Communities, meanwhile, became a Kabuki theater staple at school board meetings, manifesting some of the most bitter, polarized debates that wrack the country in the Trump Era.
Jarrod Schwartz, the intense and politically wired director of Just Communities, typically speaks during public comment in defense of his group’s aims, methods, and teaching materials (which, at his request, the district has refused to make public), while accusing Fair Education of misrepresenting them.
He is often accompanied by supportive parents, teachers, and other speakers who attest to the transformative effect Just Communities training has had on their lives.
For their part, Fair Education parents and their lawyers play their part by assailing the program, portraying it as “overtly and intentionally anti-Caucasian, anti-male, and anti-Christian,” as Early once put it.
FROM EDUCATION TO IMPEACHMENT: At a time when Democrats have consolidated one-party rule in California, Early believes that local controversies like Just Communities demonstrate the practical necessity — and long-game political opportunity — for Republicans to offer a counternarrative on real-life issues like public education.
“We have to stop the continuing takeover of our public schools, not only in Santa Barbara, by people who are hellbent on anti-American, pro-socialist, racially divisive, and sexually charged policies,” he told us.
Describing himself as a “Reagan Republican,” Early said that his unlikely campaign against Schiff arises more broadly from his fundamental conservative values, in opposition to Democratic big-government policies.
Early acknowledges that his bid against Schiff, a well-entrenched liberal in a liberal area, is a decidedly uphill crusade: “It’s a very, very tough district,” he said, adding, however, that he gained valuable experience with a 2018 campaign for attorney general, in which he won nearly a million votes despite finishing fourth in a field of four.
Now he hopes to finish second in the top-two March primary and then advance to a one-on-one runoff, painting Schiff as a partisan hack more concerned with gasbagging on cable news than day-to-day local problems.
“Adam Schiff has abandoned our district … on issues like homelessness, severe mental-health problems, and tremendous illegal immigration,” Early said. “It’s time to have somebody representing the district who won’t make up stories and tell lies about our president.”
Maybe he’ll get lucky and score a Trump tweet.

Brexit Could See the Return of the Falkland Islands to Argentina
Part 1
Argentina’s New Government Reserves Macri’s Inactions Over the Falkland Islands.
The Islas Malvinas, or more commonly known as the Falkland Islands, archipelago was invaded by the United Kingdom in 1833 and its occupation has continued to date. Argentina’s claim for sovereignty through diplomatic means has been a state policy since the failed liberation attempt through military means in 1982. Although it lost intensity during the Mauricio Macri government, President Alberto Fernández of the leftist Justicialist Party, reinforced in October his commitment to “renew the claim of sovereignty” of the 750 islands of the archipelago. In a patriotic tone, the then presidential candidate criticized the relations Macri had with the United Kingdom during a debate that took place on October 13.
“In these years the government has been very busy doing business with the United Kingdom and has forgotten sovereignty [over] the Falklands. Over 700 soldiers have died there. In memory of them all I will make things different,” Fernández said during the first Argentine presidential debate.
Fernández will re-establish a Secretariat for the Malvinas, demonstrating that he is taking the issue against the British very seriously. During his swearing in speech before the National Congress on December 10, the new president informed that he will create a Secretariat, with the participation of “all political forces,” the southern province of Tierra del Fuego that is closest to the Malvinas, representatives of the academic world and former fighters of the 1982 war, to concentrate on the reclamation of the occupied archipelago.
Fernández included the claim by the Falkland Islands in his speech when he assumed the presidency and said “there is no more place for colonialism in the 21st century.”
“We know that for this task it does not reach the mandate of a Government, but a medium and long-term State policy, so I will convene a Congress where all political forces participate,” he announced.
Fernández decision to re-establish the Malvinas Secretariat and to convene a Council on the subject restores confidence and firmness in Argentina’s demand against the British after complete servitude by Macri. The importance the new president has given to Argentina’s demand for sovereignty over the islands is a good sign and it is the first time a new president has spoken with such depth to the Malvinas issue when they first take office.
Brexit Could See the Return of the Falkland Islands to Argentina
Part 2
Fernández’s stance demonstrates that the Malvinas do not belong to any president, they are a state matter in which it is necessary to work as a state policy for not only the present, but also looking to the future. The establishment of the Secretariat is aimed to positively re-establish consensus on the basic of and essential demand for sovereignty, leaving the differing approaches in Argentina to the cause and the 1982 war conflict in the past with the aim of looking only towards the future.
It must be remembered that a new Sao Paulo-Malvinas flight opened on Argentine National Sovereignty Day on November 20, a massive slap in the face to the Argentinian veterans from the 1982 war, who did not hesitate to go out protest. LATAM inaugurated the flight which has a stop in the Argentine city of Córdoba. War veterans protested in front of the Foreign Ministry in Buenos Aires against what they described as treachery by Macri. Fernández has an opportunity to gain even more popular support by forcing the cancellation of flights by LATAM to the Malvinas and by ensuring the islands have no lifeline except with their colonial masters in London approximately 13,000 kilometers away.
Conservative Boris Johnson won the British election on December 12, which put the South American islanders on alert. The possibility of the definitive implementation of Brexit will harm the local economy, whose production has the European Union as one of its main markets. Brexit is a favorable situation for Argentina because in the view of the European Union, the Malvinas are an extracontinental territory, something that will complicate the local economy, just as what will happen with British-occupied Gibraltar on the Iberian Peninsula and areas in Cyprus.
In this context Argentina must start seeking new alliances with European countries and condemn the maintenance of a British colony on the complete opposite side of the Atlantic and with total impunity. With Spain wanting the return of Gibraltar and Cyprus wanting the return of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, Argentina can very easily find new allies in the European Union willing to cooperate efforts to reclaim sovereignty over territory occupied by the British. Brexit therefore not only threatens the breakup of the United Kingdom with a push for Scottish independence and Irish unification, but it could potentially see the return of the Malvinas to Argentina.

‘Wall Street Pete’ Buttigeig Donors Demanding Their Money Back After Learning About His Wall Street Ties
Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg looked like he was starting to gain some traction in some states, but now all that solid ground may be turning into slick mud at this point.
Things are starting to get so bad for Buttigieg that multiple hashtags have been created on Twitter about him as he has recently come under fire for hosting secret fundraisers for billionaires to donate large sums of money. His everyday donors are insulted by that because it makes it appear as though he doesn’t really need their money since he has all these billionaires in his back pocket.
Therefore, many of his donors are now demanding refunds for their contributions to Buttigieg’s campaign.
And that’s how #RefundPete and #WallStreetPete got started. This isn’t unlike anything we’ve already been seeing it’s a dog eat dog world out there for the Democrats where they are politically devouring one another in an effort to try and stand out among the crowd.
When one of the Democrats finally wins the nomination they’re going to be in terrible shape to even try and compete against Trump because they’ll have already been exposed to badly by their own party.
According to The Western Journal,
“Voters need Pete to address new concerns that at McKinsey he may have helped lay off workers in places like Michigan,” Adam Green, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee co-founder, said. His group has endorsed Warren for president, Politico reported.
Progressives have also nicknamed Buttigieg “Wall Street Pete” for donations he has received at closed-door fundraisers with affluent people, such as the one thrown by investment bankers at the Redbury Hotel near Midtown New York, according to the Daily News.
Protesters from the left-wing group New York Communities for Change had followed the presidential candidate from a fundraiser at the Upper West Side home of tech investor Kevin Ryan to one at the home of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
#WallStreetPete continues with private fundraisers/calling the police on protestors instead of embracing real campaign finance reform.
He clearly doesn't want our "pocket change". Ask for your #RefundPete by emailing info@peteforamerica.com.pic.twitter.com/xUCv3RZxOH

The fact that #RefundPete is a thing highlights three things.
1. How good of job his campaign did at deception early on.
2. How easy it is for voters to get caught up in the platitudes and blubber and ignore the policy.
3. How much @PeteButtigieg is just white hot garbage.

Pro-tip: If @petebuttigieg fooled you into thinking he was a progressive at the beginning of his campaign and you donated what he thinks is pocket change, you can ask for a refund by emailing your receipt to info@peteforamerica.com. #RefundPete

Rubio: 'Not a Single Senator Can Be an Impartial Juror'
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., says not one senator can be an "impartial juror" in President Donald Trump's impeachment trial.
Rubio made his comments in a Thursday tweet:
"Not a single Senator can be an 'impartial juror' in the traditional sense of a jury trial in court:
"– All 100 have a preexisting opinion of @realDonaldTrump
"– 7 ran or are running to replace him
"– Sen. [Elizabeth] Warren decided to convict before the House even revealed the Articles."
Rubio's tweet came after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., acknowledged he is coordinating with the White House and is not an "impartial juror."
Meanwhile, Rubio, in another tweet, said his personal decision on Trump's political fate will be based on two factors:
"The Constitution provides no guidelines for how Senators should arrive at their decision. My decision will be guided by 2 factors: 1. Conviction carries a mandatory & extraordinary minimum sentence, removal from office 2. An alternative remedy is available, the 2020 election."

Philippine raid nabs 342 illegal Chinese gaming workers - part of a crackdown on illegal migration and an illicit gaming industry that is being fueled by mainland China’s appetite for betting
MANILA (Reuters) – Philippine authorities said on Friday they arrested 342 Chinese workers in a raid on an unlicensed gambling operation, part of a crackdown on illegal migration and an illicit gaming industry that is being fueled by mainland China’s appetite for betting.
Licensed online gaming operations introduced in 2016 have been a boon in bringing money to the Philippine economy, but illegal businesses attracting massive numbers of Chinese migrants have also mushroomed, due largely to vested interests, corruption and weak law enforcement.
Illegal operations far outnumber those being regulated, and do not pay no tax. Law enforcement bodies and the Chinese government suspect some are fronts for crime, including money laundering.
The Chinese arrested late on Thursday were at a registered gambling firm that had yet to secure a license from the state gaming regulator.
“We had reason to suspect that the company is a front for illegal cyber activities and investment scams,” said Fortunato Manahan, chief of the Bureau of Immigration’s intelligence division.
Though Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has good relations with China, where gambling is prohibited, he has refused its request to ban gaming operations that cater to mainland Chinese.
Chinese gaming companies and their employees have been blamed for driving up office and residential rent, so much so that Makati City, Manila’s main business hub, has banned the issue of new licenses to gaming firms.
In August, Cambodia heeded Chinese pressure to ban online gambling, which has drawn both Chinese investment and crime to the country.

Andrew Yang Blasts Fellow Democrats & the Media for Obsessing Over Impeachment, Suggests They Haven’t Learned a Thing About 2016 Loss to Donald Trump
This is the second time in a week this site is giving some credit to democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang. The first was following the release of his healthcare plan, which had good chunks of it commended by our EIC. The second comes following last night’s Democratic debate when Yang acknowledged what conservatives have been saying for three years: President Trump won because he promised to address problems facing real Americans and not because of Russia, Hillary Clinton’s emails, or racism.
Arguably the biggest takeaway from Yang’s response was to say Democrats and mainstream media are putting way too much focus on impeachment. President Trump will be on the ballot in 2020 and Democrats would be wise to address the problems that got him elected instead of obsessing about removing him from office prematurely. It was one of the most honest and complete answers said by any of the candidates the whole night.
I won’t be voting for Andrew Yang, but I respect that he’s clearly not suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. He may be the only candidate who isn’t. And that’s why it’s impossible for him to win the nomination. He’s not unhinged.

Levin: McConnell Can Declare Impeachment 'Null and Void' Because Pelosi Failed To Transmit Articles
Part 1
Talk show host and former top Reagan Justice Department official Mark Levin called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to declare the House impeachment of President Donald Trump “null and void” because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi failed to transmit the articles to the Senate.
Similarly, Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz argued in a Thursday Op-Ed that a failure to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate would rob Trump of his constitutional rights.
Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution provides that “The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments … And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.”
In a series of tweets, Levin, who served as chief of staff to Reagan Attorney General Edwin Meese, wrote, “Nancy Pelosi was apparently advised by leftwing Harvard law professor Lawrence Tribe to delay sending the impeachment to the Senate. So she’s unilaterally sitting on the impeachment. This is another brazen unconstitutional act.”
“Here’s what Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans must do in response: The Senate has the sole power under the Constitution to adjudicate an impeachment. Therefore, Pelosi is attempting to obstruct the Senate’s power to act on its constitutional authority,” the Fox News host continued.
2. Here’s what Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans must do in response: The Senate has the sole power under the Constitution to adjudicate an impeachment. Therefore, Pelosi is attempting to obstruct the Senate’s power to act on its constitutional authority.
— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) December 19, 2019
“McConnell should immediately put an end to this and declare the impeachment null and void as the speaker has failed to complete the impeachment process by timely sending it to the Senate for adjudication,” Levin tweeted.
He then argued that that McConnell has “no less authority to [act] unilaterally” than Pelosi.
“Her effort to cripple the presidency & blackmail the Senate must be defeated,” Levin concluded.
Dershowitz specifically took on Tribe’s notion that the articles of impeachment could be withheld indefinitely.
“[Tribe] would withhold the trial until the Senate agreed to change its rules, or presumably until a new election put many more Democrats in the Senate. Under his proposal, there might never be a Senate trial, but the impeachment would stand as a final and permanent condemnation of President Trump,” wrote Dershowitz, who reportedly is being considered to be part of Trump’s Senate impeachment trial legal team.
Levin: McConnell Can Declare Impeachment 'Null and Void' Because Pelosi Failed To Transmit Articles
Part 2
“It is difficult to imagine anything more unconstitutional, more violative of the intention of the Framers, more of a denial of basic due process and civil liberties, more unfair to the president and more likely to increase the current divisiveness among the American people,” the top defense lawyer continued. “Put bluntly, it is hard to imagine a worse idea put forward by good people.”
“President Trump would stand accused of two articles of impeachment without having an opportunity to be acquitted by the institution selected by the Framers to try all cases of impeachment. It would be as if a prosecutor deliberately decided to indict a criminal defendant but not to put him on trial.”
Among the constitutional violations Dershowitz identified would result from a failure to transmit the articles of impeachment is denying Trump the right to confront his accusers and be acquitted of the charges leveled against him.
Speaking from the Senate floor on Thursday morning, McConnell addressed the possible non-transmission of the articles, saying, “Looks like the prosecutors are getting cold feet in front of the entire country and second-guessing whether they even want to go to trial.”
“They said impeachment was so urgent that it could not even wait for due process but now they’re content to sit on their hands. This is really comical.”
On Tuesday, McConnell responded to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s demand for four new witnesses to appear at a Senate trial, saying the Senate will not do the House’s “homework” for them.
“He wants to volunteer the Senate’s time and energy on a fishing expedition to see whether his own ideas could make Chairman Schiff’s sloppy work more persuasive than Chairman Schiff himself bothered to make it,” McConnell said.
The majority leader further pointed out, “If House Democrats’ case is this deficient, this thin, the answer is not for the judge and jury to cure it over here in the Senate, the answer is the House should not impeach on this basis in the first place.”
