But who wants him alive? Do the people who want him alive have control of the video tapes that went missing? Do they have control of the prison guards? Do they have control of the investigation into Epstein's death? Do they say in public that they're appalled and determined to get to the bottom of it, but somehow make no progress at all in their investigation?

There are two justice systems in the United States. One is visible to the public. The other has jurisdiction over people subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice and employees of the Department of Defense and its contractors and subcontractors. In cases where somebody falls under DoD jurisdiction, the DoJ will transfer the detainee to the DoD for court martial and a cover story will be given to the public if necessary.
