Seems Boris learned thing or 2 from Trump kek

Boris Johnson Appoints Climate Skeptics To His New Government

Following the election one of Boris Johnson’s first acts has been to appoint climate change sceptics to his cabinet.

This is despite election claims that his government would take the unfolding climate disaster (sic) seriously.

Monmouth MP David TC Davies has been made a minister in the Wales Office, and assistant government whip.

Mr Davies has a long history of denying man-made climate change despite the overwhelming consensus of leading experts around world stating the opposite.

In 2013 he said in a parliamentary debate that it “is not proven that the carbon dioxide that has gone into the atmosphere is responsible for the relatively small amount of warming that has taken place since industrialisation.”

In 2016 he signed a letter calling on the government to delay setting the fifth carbon budget as recommended by independent advisers the Committee on Climate Change (the leading authority on global heating).

He has used his regular column in the South Wales Argus to speak out against action on the climate emergency. In 2018 he used it to speak out against renewable forms for green energy and accused the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of being “alarmists”.

These views are not new and have been going on for over a decade. In 2010 Davies attended a meeting of climate science deniers in the UK parliament called “Climate Fools Day”.

In a parliamentary debate to ratify the Paris Agreement in 2016, Davies repeated the debunked trope that the climate has always been changing. In the same debate, he blamed the BBC for accepting “hook, line and sinker the so-called scientific consensus on climate change”.

FISA Court Orders Review of Warrant Applications From FBI Lawyer Referred for Criminal Investigation

By Zachary Stieber

December 21, 2019 Updated: December 21, 2019

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court ordered the FBI to review warrant applications that Kevin Clinesmith—a former FBI lawyer referred for criminal investigation for allegedly removing a key line from an email when applying for a warrant to spy on a Donald Trump campaign aide—was involved with.

The release of the order comes as the court’s very existence comes under pressure from lawmakers after Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz uncovered 17 “significant errors or omissions” in the applications to spy on Carter Page, who worked for Trump’s campaign.

Judge Rosemary Collyer, the presiding judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), demanded the FBI “identify all other matters currently or previously before this Court that involved the participation” of the attorney, Clinesmith.

Judge revokes federal grazing permit for Hammond Ranches Inc.

Updated Dec 21, 2:09 PM;Posted Dec 20, 1:14 PM

A federal judge on Friday revoked the grazing permit for Hammond Ranches Inc., finding that former Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s order renewing it early this year was an “abuse of discretion.''

Dwight Hammond Jr. and his youngest son, Steven Hammond, can reapply for a new permit and go through the proper process to obtain one, U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon said.

Neither Zinke or the U.S. Bureau of Land Management made a finding that the Hammonds were in “substantial compliance’’ with federal grazing regulations or had a “satisfactory history of performance’’ as required, the judge found.

“Secretary Zinke simply avoided the issue altogether. Under federal law and agency regulations, he may not do this,’’ Simon wrote in a 41-page ruling issued after he heard oral arguments on Thursday.

“The Secretary’s failure to comply with the governing statutes and regulations, acknowledge his departure from agency policy and practices, and provide a reasoned explanation for that departure are all serious errors,’’ the judge found.
