Question of the day:

After making a bum rush at impeachment, why are they waiting to send the articles to the senate?

They were in such a hurry to get this done that they didn't even bother to charge the President with actual crimes, and now they've pulled the break.

Why?

 

Factors:

  1. Once the articles are delivered, the house is out of the mix.

  2. Once the articles are delivered, the Senate stops all business until that's been dealt with

  3. The Chief justice is the presiding officer during the trial so the SCOTUS stops until it's been dealt with.

  4. It's been argued that the President is not impeached until the articles are sent to the Senate.

That's not the way I understand the law, but it's been credibly argued.

 

Possibilities:

 

  1. They're genuinely concerned about the integrity of the trial process. 😂😂. Hey. anything is possible.

 

  1. There's an important SCOTUS case coming up that they want to delay. (There's one on 2/25, but that seems like a long time to drag your feet)

 

  1. There's an investigation in the Senate that they want to interrupt at a critical moment. Essentially, they have veto power over the Senate schedule right now.

 

  1. Nancy has been put into submission and is holding the articles until the FISA investigations are done in the Judiciary committee.

 

3 of 4 seem like reasonable possibilities to me but I'm inclined towards #4.

Here's why:

 

Nancy didn't want to impeach. She's an old drunk, but not an imbecile. She knows that the President could and would use the spectacle of a Senate trial to lay bare all of the various crimes of the usual suspects.

 

It's a spectacle that not even the DNC media could cover up entirely.

I contend that she was offered the McCain option.

Push through articles on the stupidest possible terms then hold them until the Senate completes its FISA hearing (or some other benchmark)

 

In return, you get to claim Parkinsons or something similar and check out quietly.

Don't do it and all of your property is forfeit and you go down as a traitor with the rest of them.

 

The benefits:

 

  1. The President gets to shout from the rooftops demanding justice.

  2. The House is effectively neutered as Nancy won't allow new articles to be introduced while she's still holding the previous ones.

  3. The bad actors int he Senate are neutered because they don't want a trial either

  4. Lindsey G et al are free to pursue honest investigations in an open forum and the educational process continues.
