When you life sucks:

Get up, early, every day.

Clean your body and eat.

Get the hell out of the house, every day. If possible do something VERY physical.

Do the right thing every day, you know what that is.

Be helpful to others, talk to strangers, interact with the world.

When you feel low, think of all the people who have it worse than yourself. Then be thankful.

If you pray. Pray. Don't ask for anything in your prayers, be thankful and appreciative for the good in your life.

If you do the right thing every day it is just a matter of time and you will see positive change.

Good luck and don't be so hard on yourself……..

I am not giving you platitudes here. My life was, by all accounts, in the shitter. My life needed a complete reworking. The one thing that turned the corner for me, and what gave me the presence of mind the break my life down to the absolute basics, was driving a cab taking medicaid patients to dialysis. Granted, some of these people did it to themselves, but many did not. I saw horribly disabled, blind, downs syndrome, you name it. I couldn't even make eye contact at first I was so uncomfortable with seeing tragic circumstances. Little by little I started seeing these people as I would anyone else, and you know what? They were smart, funny, appreciative and for the most part POSITIVE (when they trusted the person in their presence). I stopped feeling pity for them and that made me stop pitying myself and thank the Lord above for not visiting such problems on me. That was twenty years ago and I still feel grateful to the thousands of people I took care of every day and I got my shit together, and dare I say "I am happy". There is a lot in this world to love and you are already being shown the way. Still your mind, breathe and look at the beauty that still is there when you are in your darkest time. It's all there to lift you up, if you don't play the victim, and don't take it for granted. Trust me, I know, I've done it wrong and done it right. Good luck brother it really does get better.
