I noticed this through the low level prosecutions of crimes such as Assault in the Third Degree, in which prosecutors often have very little evidence and did no due diligence before bringing the case. The prosecutors are given the cases and earning a paycheck. 90% of those cases are against young men. Depending on the police procedures in a given jurisdiction, discretion affords police officers the ability to arrest people for the craziest of circumstances, one most notable to me was a boyfriend protecting his girlfriend after 4 guys had surrounded her. Fortunately, the judge found him not guilty. But the year worth of litigation and attorney fees for such incidents are very frequent. Sexual assault in the Fourth Degree is also gaining prevalence for paper thin evidence as well.
